the tallest building in the world...

well, it was during 1901-1907
But that is ok. Philadelphia's City Hall is a marvel to behold. This amazing display of architecture is the home of our fair city's leadership. The level of detail on this granite masterpiece is simply amazing with over 250 sculptures incorporated into the design.
The most famous sculpture is of William Penn which stands on top of the tower keeping an eye on his home town. Over the years, City Hall has had its critics...some even wanted to demolish the elaborate municipal building. I guess you just can't make everybody happy.

For a small fee you can view the city from the observation deck on the top of the tower. Not a bad view.
