The Comcast Center sometimes just blends into the sky. I love this building. For those who may not know, the Comcast Center has taken steps to defeat the curse of Billy Penn (read here). Ironworkers from Local Union 401 placed a small statue of our city's founding father on the top beam of our new tallest building so he can once again look over his hometown. Let's all hope it works!!! Go Phillies.

a 200 year long playdate
Showtime!
In Philadelphia there are many old, historical buildings. The Walnut St. Theatre is the oldest theater in America. It's still in operation and very popular today. Currently, it is the oldest playhouse in active use in the English-speaking world. Next year, the theater will celebrate its 200th anniversary. Many stars have graced its stage such as: Edwin Booth, Groucho Marx, Katharine Hepburn, Jack Lemmon, Bill Cosby, and everybody's favorite...Samuel L. Jackson. Presidents from Thomas Jefferson to Jimmy Carter have taken in a show. Even the famous rock band The Clash, have played a show here. Learn about the theater here or here.
The Walnut St. Theatre is a gateway to our nation's past. Stop by to see a show and experience it yourself.
NOW PLAYING: Harvey Fierstein's The Torch Song Trilogy

if it's broke...don 't fix it...
Let Philadelphia freedom ring...
The liberty bell is "the icon" of our fair city, and a symbol of freedom around the world. It is a national treasure that has been celebrated since the 18th century. And, it's broken. The famous crack in the bell doesn't matter to Philadelphians. We like it. It gives us character. In fact, it tells us when one of our Phillies hits a homer.
The history of the bell is amazing. Check it out here.
You can see the bell at Independence Mall, right across the street from the hall. Go ahead and check it out. Just be careful. No more cracks please.
